Sponsored Mount Kilimanjaro Climb
The forecast for next week looks to be dry so the school is going to climb the mountain without even leaving Trottiscliffe!
The plan is that every child will complete a short lap of a part of the country park which includes a steep incline (as anyone who has visited the country park will be familiar with). Older children will complete more than one lap and between all the children of the school, they will have collectively travelled the distance of the height of Mount Kilimanjaro.
To ensure we have adequate adult supervision for each class, the classes will be completing their challenge on different days. The children will be transported to the start of their route by minibus to avoid having to walk up Taylors Lane, and will be brought back to school once they have completed their lap (or laps).
In class, the children are decorating flags to wave and carry as they go and the TSA have also provided large flags of their African class countries that each class will carry with them.
On your child’s walk day (shown in the calendar section of the website), they can wear t-shirts in the colours of their class flag or they may choose to decorate a plain t-shirt. They should also make sure they have trainers or walking shoes in school on that day to wear. The TSA have also provided face paints in each flag’s colours for children to have applied if they wish. If your child is not allowed to have face paints applied in school, please email the school office before the day of their walk.
